An easy Frito chili pie is one of our favorite fall and winter comfort foods. This is a 25-minute recipe that comes together for an easy, filling, and delicious meal.

Chili with Fritos and Cheese is a comfort meal that is perfect for fall or winter or whenever you are craving chili.

Adding the Fritos to chili brings extra flavor and texture. It’s a game changer and something our family always loves. We often use Fritos with our taco meat as well!

What are the ingredients for Frito pie?

Ground Beef: The heart of our Frito pie chili mixture.

Onion: For a little extra flavor and texture.

Beef Broth: Broth gives you the beef flavor and juice to soak up the spices.

Seasonings: Garlic, chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Tomato Sauce: A staple for chili.

Fritos Chips: You can use Fritos Original or Frito’s Chili flavored chips.

Cheddar Cheese: Gives the dish some cheesy goodness in between the chili beef mixture and the Fritos.

What Toppings Can I Put On Frito Chili Pie?

You can use a variety of different toppings. Whatever you would enjoy on your chili will also work well on this chili with Fritos.

  • sour cream
  • extra cheese
  • green onions
  • crackers
  • tomato chunks or grape tomatoes

The possibilities are endless and all based on your preference! As we mentioned, the easy Frito chili pie will work with any of your favorite chili toppings.

Chili with Fritos and Cheese

Serves: 4 to 6
Prep: 25 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion; diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 15 oz. can of tomato sauce
  • 1 bag of Frito’s Original Chips
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

Easy Frito Chili Cheese Pie

In a medium saucepan, add the ground beef, garlic, and onion. Bring to medium heat and cook until the ground beef is browned and the onions are cooked.

Stir in the cumin, cayenne pepper, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Next, pour in tomato sauce and beef broth. Simmer on low for about 10 minutes.

Places Fritos on a place and then top with cheese and some chili or make walking chili Fritos (see below).

You can easily turn this easy Frito chili pie into fun and delicious chili-style walking tacos. Instead of layering the Fritos and other ingredients into a dish, simply put them in individual Frito Chili chip bags.

Open the mini Fritos bags, pour in a couple of spoonfuls of the meat mixture, sprinkle with some cheese, and add any other toppings you’d like.

This will also be a great lunch idea! You can prep the chili mixture the night before and add it to your Bento box lunch with some Fritos. Boom! You have an easy and amazing Bento Box lunch idea for work or school.

You can easily make these chili-style walking tacos. Instead of layering the Fritos and other ingredients into a dish, simply put them in individual Frito Chili chip bags.
